About Lost Sons…

This is for the mothers (& papas) of the prodigal sons and daughters.

I didn’t go looking for this one, but then again, usually these moments don’t come for me by seeking. But He will meet me whenever, wherever. He is a faithful Friend and Father. Honestly, after many interruptions this morning, I finally got The Book open to continue this attempt to read straight through the NT. LOL!!  Rarely do I set out to just read through even one book and not get halted on a thought, a revelation or even an encounter. Happens every time I try to read John. I can’t seem to get past the first handful of pages, though some of my all time favorite passages are in the back third of the book.

In that same vein of occurrence, after several days of not getting past Matthew 17, finally today I get to chapter 18, though not very far…  But for those moms especially, regardless of age, who have children who seemingly have walked away, turned their back or just lost their way from God and everything they believed and walked in, this is for you today. I hope you are touched deeply with the hope and promises of God.

Yay, God!

Matthew 18:1- 14

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of    Heaven?’ He called a child, set him in front of them, and said, ‘I tell you this: unless you turn round and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. Let a man humble himself till he is like this child, and he will be the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me. but if a man is a cause of stumbling to one of these little ones who have faith in me, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung round his neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. Alas for the world that such causes of stumbling arise! Come they must, but woe betide the man through whom they come!

If your hand or your foot is your undoing, cut it off and fling it away; it is better for you to enter into life maimed or lame, than to keep two hands or two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. If it isyour eye that is your undoing, tear it out and fling it away; it is better to enter into life with one eye than to keep both eyes and be thrown into the first of hell.

Never despise one of these little ones; I tell you, they have their guardian angels in heaven, who look continually on the face of my heavenly Father.

What do you think? Suppose a man has a hundred sheep. If one of them strays, does he not leave the other ninety-nine on the hillside and go in search of the one that strayed? And if he should find it, I tell you this: he is more delighted over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that never strayed. In the same way, it is not your heavenly Father’s will that one of these little ones should be lost.

I hope you found the hope in the passages I did. Sometimes we feel helpless to protect our children from the world’s influences. Sometimes we fear we’ve lost them to the darkness. But wow, their Father in Heaven (& their angels!) know exactly where they are, where to ‘seek’ them out, and how to reach them to bring them ‘home’. I don’t know what your loved one is going through in this moment, but know this HE does, and oh what Joy when He brings them back. He is able, He is faithful, & He is more determined to ‘save’ them than we. Take heart, be at peace and receive the hope and love of the Father this day.

May the Lord bless and keep you and yours this day and always, securely in the palm of His hand and His plan.

    • Thanks. And oddly enough, not so very long. Had started another on another site which I just deleted… mostly pictures and reblogging, a much different set up than this. WordPress really makes this pretty simple. 🙂 I’ve only had this one a couple of months and started the companion mission blog shortly after, which still needs much work. I’m still waiting on updates from the ministry. This is an investment of time, with a few techie glitches from time to time, but if you take the time to use the tutorials and do some exploration and experimentation there’s room for even the greatest tech challenged to be creative and have fun!
